Team membership
Maroondah Masters (Maroondah Veterans Rugby) was formed in 1992 after some of the senior grade players had become too “senior”, although reluctant to admit it and perhaps just a bit slower. The need for a veterans rugby team in Melbourne's East became apparent.
Even in 2010, the Maroondah Misfits Veterans Rugby Union team still has a number of the original team from 1992 and has expanded to include many junior players from the late 1970’s to early 1980’s. These now qualify by their mature status or “Old age”.
Maroondah Rugby Club (formerly Croydon Rugby Club) is one of Victoria’s longest established amateur rugby clubs.
As much as we enjoy the only game they play in Heaven, it’s not so much the game but the friendships you make along the way. These include not only your own team mates but that of the opposition and teams through out the world.
Maroondah Rugby Club is not only about playing Veterans Rugby in Melbourne, but making friends and having a good time [click here to view latest news and photos]. Social events are organised throughout the year and there is an end of season trip every year.
In 2006 Maroondah Misfits participated in the Golden Oldies Tournament for the first time and it definitely won’t be the last!
If you’re looking for a club that enjoys the social side of rugby as well as the playing side and most of all doesn’t take things too seriously, then this is the club for you.
